I once heard a lady repeat the following pithy lines, and shall be glad if any of your readers can tell me who is the author, and where they first appeared, "'Tis a very good world to live in— To lend, and to spend, and to give in; But to beg, or to borrow, or ask for one's own, 'Tis the very worst world that ever was known."
